Professor Manuel Núñez

Manuel Núñez holds a Doctorate degree in Mathematics/Computer Science, obtained in 1996, and a Master degree in Economics, obtained in 2002. He is a Professor in the Department of Computer Systems and Programming of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain. He is also a Visiting Professor at the School of Information Systems, Computing and Mathematics of Brunel University, UK. During the years 2004 and 2005 he was collaborating, as an economist, with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Project Coordinator in Ukraine. In particular, he was in charge of the LEaD project (Local Economic Development through improving business infrastructure for SMEs). His research is circumscribed to use formal methods in different application areas. Currently, he is mainly working in the area of formal methods for testing complex systems. He is also working on the use of formal methods in user modeling, with an emphasis on collective intelligence.
Manuel Núñez has been teaching, for almost 25 years, at Universidad Complutense de Madrid. During these years, he has taught courses at all the University levels (Bachelor, Master and Doctorate). He has focused on programming courses and on the use of mathematics and formal methods in Computer Science.
He is a member of the IEEE SMC Technical Committee on Computational Collective Intelligence, a member of the Board of Directors of the Tarot Summer School on Software Testing, a member of the A-MOST Workshop Steering Committee and was a member of the ICTSS Steering Committee for the period 2009-2012. He is a member of the Editorial Boards of the Transactions on Computational Collective Intelligence and of the Journal of Universal Computer Science, and a member of the Review Board of the International Journal of Information Technology and Web Engineering. In addition, he has served in more than 120 Program Committees of international events in Computer Science. He has published more than 130 papers in international scientific journals and meetings.
