Prof. Nguyen Huu Duc

Professor Nguyen Huu Duc, who was born in 1958 in Vietnam, earned a bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Hanoi in 1980. He obtained his Ph.D Degree in the same group in 1988, received the French Habilitation (DHR) in Physics at the Joseph Fourier University of Grenoble in 1997. He became a Full Professor of the Vietnam National University (VNU), Hanoi in 2004 and Professor of Merit in 2008. He has also been nominated as an associate and/or visiting professor at French Universities, such as the University of Rouen in the period 1997-2001 and the Joseph Fourier University of Grenoble in 2003. Prof. Duc is author of 100 scientific ISI papers in various international journals and of 10 monographs published in volumes of the Handbook of Magnetic Materials and the Handbook on the Physics and Chemistry of Rare Earths (Elsevier Science Publisher) and recent Handbook of Advanced Magnetism and Magnetic Materials (VNU Press).

The Third Chen Ning Yang Award of the Association of Asia Pacific Physical Societies (in 2004) and the State Prize for S&T of Vietnam (in 2017) were given to Prof. N.H. Duc for excellent contributions to the study of rare earth – transition metal intermetallic compounds.

In 2014, N.H. Duc obtained the Palm Academic Medal of French Republic. Prof. N.H. Duc is the Editor in Chief of the VNU-Elsevier Journal of Science: Advanced Materials and Devices, the Advisory Editorial Board member for the Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials (2009-2012) and IOP Advances in Natural Sciences: Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (since 2010). Since 2008, Prof. Duc has been serving as the Vice-President of VNU Hanoi – a leading Vietnamese university with over hundred years history.
